The image is a visual by Darcstudio of a proposed National Landmark of Hope planned to be built in Coleshill, Birmingham. This will be visible from the M6, M42, M6 Toll Road, HS2 (if built!) and flights in and out of Birmingham Airport. The project is called ‘The Wall’ and is ‘To remind generations of God’s goodness’. The main feature of the Landmark will be a wall constructed of 1 million bricks. Each brick will have a testimony relating to an ‘Answered Prayer’ and the desire is that this Architectural sculpture will be used for 3 things – Preserve the Christian Heritage of our Nation, Inspire prayer on a National level, and Reveal Christ Jesus to the Nation. The land has been secured and the intention is to begin to build in 2020.
When the children of Israel crossed the river Jordan to enter into the Promised land God commanded Joshua to take 12 men - one from each tribe - and each man to take one stone from the river bed in the middle of the river Jordan and carry them to the place where they would lodge. These were to be for a memorial.
‘That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.’ Joshua ch4 v6 & 7
I wonder how many ‘bricks’ we could give as a testimony of the answers God has given to our prayers? Each prayer answered is worthy of thanksgiving and remembrance and no prayer should seem to us ‘small’ and therefore forgotten. Sometimes the so called ‘small’ things we pray for and receive answers to are all the more remarkable. Often these things are kept private between us and our God with little outward witness to His honour and glory and yet despite all that the Almighty Lord God in Heaven is pleased to condescend in granting answers for us. How these answered prayers for ‘small’ things should excite and encourage us to bring ‘all’ things to Him in prayer.
Peter writes in his epistle ‘Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.’ 1 Peter ch5 v7 What a token of His care of us when we prove Him to be a prayer hearing and answering God.
‘Let us therefore come boldly unto to throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.’ Hebrews ch4 v16
